Dr Alkis Psaltis

Dr Alkis Psaltis is a Senior lecturer at the University of Adelaide and the Head of Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, Australia. After completing his ENT training in Adelaide, Australia in 2011, Dr Psaltis completed three fellowships in advanced rhinology and Skull Base surgery in NZ and the USA, He most recently returned from Stanford University where also served as a clinical instructor. Dr Psaltis has a strong research interest, having completed a PhD in 2008 researching the role of bacterial biofilms in CRS. His research has received international acclaim having been awarded numerous prizes. He has authored over 65 peer-reviewed articles, 5 book chapters and serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Otolaryngology and Annals of Otology, Laryngoogy and Rhinology . He is also a reviewer for 6 international ENT journals .

Yi Chen Zhao

Dr Yi Chen Zhao

Dr. Yi Chen Zhao is a consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon in Melbourne. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne with a focus on simulation in ENT education. After completing his specialist training, he has undertaken further advanced training in rhinology and skull base surgery in Adelaide with Professor PJ Wormald. He is currently a consultant surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital where he has a special interest in complex rhinological surgery and anterior skull base surgery. He is actively involved in the teaching of advanced surgical trainees and regularly contributes in international courses.

Peter John Wormald, MD, FRACS

Prof. PJ Wormald is Chairman of the Dept. Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery at Adelaide University in Australia. He is currently recognized as a leader in Sinonasal Disorders, FESS, and Anterior Skull-Base Surgery. His medical practice and research interest are devoted to rhinology. He has developed an animal model for eosinophilic sinusitis, to study various aspects of the disorder. Other research includes the role of the immune system and biofilms as etiologies of chronic rhinosinusitis. He is also involved in development of new Clinical treatments and surgery for sino-nasal disorders. Prof. Wormald is frequently an invited guest speaker to medical conferences on sino-Nasal Disorders and Endoscopic skull-Base Surgery. He is known to be an exceptional lecturer and teacher. He has authored nine books, 34 chapters, and over 350 peer-reviewed articles. In 2005, he authored a best-selling textbook on FESS -Endoscopic Sinus Surgery – Anatomy, 3-D Reconstruction, and surgical Technique (translated to multiple languages), and has now completed a second and third edition also. He has particular teaching interests in the Anatomy of the Sinuses, Frontal Sinus Surgery, and Anterior Skull-Base Surgery

Saul is a consultant oculoplastic, orbital and lacrimal surgeon at Brighton and Sussex University Hospital, UK. Saul underwent his Ophthalmology training in London and Sussex and completed oculoplastic fellowships in Brighton, UK and Adelaide, Australia. Saul also spent four years studying trachoma in Ethiopia through the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He was awarded his PhD for this work and continues to be very active in this field. Saul passion for teaching and in particular the use of video for surgical training led to the development of this website and it’s sister site EyeSurgeryVideos.net which is a major oculoplastic video based surgical training site used by surgeons around the world.
